        There are six different (types or names) of pieces in chess - king, queen, rook, bishop, horse and pawn. Chess is played by two opponents; one plays with white pieces, the other with black pieces. Each player has 16 pieces - one king, one queen, two tours, two bishops, two knights and eight pawns. Each of these pieces moves on the chessboard in its own way.
